Each week a photo is used, donated by one of the participants of Sunday Photo Fiction, and the idea is to write a story with the photo as a prompt in around 200 words. The photo doesn’t have to be centre stage, there have been times when I have had to read the story a few times to spot where the prompt is hidden. Please include a mention and / or link to whoever donated the photo.

Careful editing is the key to keeping the story within the constrains of the limit. 200 words may seem like a lot, but it disappears quickly. The challenge makes you look at replacing two words with one, and a little jiggery pokery. A few words over is sometimes necessary when there is no way of shrinking it without losing an integral part of the story. Using a program like Microsoft Word or Open Office have a word counter so you can see how many you have used.

Once you have written and posted your story, please add the link to the inlinkz froggy icon below and add it to the collection so we can all have a read.

If I haven’t read your story by the time the next week starts, don’t panic, I will get to it. I can’t always visit every one in a week. Thank you for contributing though. Don’t stop as there are others who also like to read. And I don’t miss a story. Even if it takes me a week and a half to get to yours.

  1. I love this photo! I wish I had time for more writing this week. My excuse for not doing so many flash fiction prompts was supposed to be that I’m concentrating on writing for Camp NaNo this month. But now work has gotten crazy busy, and that’s keeping me from even doing Camp NaNo. Argh! Hopefully all will be settled by next month.

      1. Ha ha, I like your version of nananana-hey hey-goodbye! But I’m (supposed to be) doing Camp NaNoWriMo. My goal is to write 20,000 words of short stories for publication, which means not putting them on my blog, so my blog activity is going to be weak-to-nonexistent this month.

      2. I’m actually doing a larger number of shorter stories, which feels even harder, because I have to keep thinking of a new plot, new characters, new twists… We’ll see how it goes.
