This is the first Photo Fiction. The first of, I hope, many. I’m looking forward to seeing what everybody comes up with for their stories.

WORD COUNT
Word count is 150 words. If you go over, you won’t be kicked out, finger waggled or stared at. The idea is to keep it short for those of us with a short attention … oooh a shiney.

PROMPT
The photo that is used is one that I have taken myself. Please link to my other blog with a copyright message. My other blog can be found here. Please include the photo in each story.

THE RULES
Please state at the beginning of your post if your post contains sex or violence so that readers who are against those genres can know to avoid them.

When commenting on another person’s story, please be nice. Remember, we all like advice, but harsh criticism may offend some people.

Please link back to here with your post so that other readers can know where your stories are.

My story the photo is below as well as on my other blog.

Have fun

Until next week …

BEFORE THE BEAK

“They don’t need pigeons when they have me”, thinks the seagull as he soars through the air. He can feel the letter in his beak and knows, as a carrier bird, this is the most vital piece of information ever carried. He has been flying for over three hours now, and the letter is starting to feel quite heavy, as if his beak is starting to fall off.

Landing now would cause him to want to stay down and drop the it. Not something he wants to do, especially when the future of all Laridae1 is in the balance. All he can do is to focus and try to ignore the pull on the back of his beak.

He is having difficulty containing his excitement. He wants everygull to share his news. Well, not every gull, but most.

This letter tells of the house where food is always given out.

1 Laridae is the Latin name for gulls

  2. Nice. 🙂 So that’s how they all suddenly know. I knew a bakery once that would throw their old bread on the roof and the seagulls around that were like a snowfall.
Are there posting time limits for these stories? I’d like to do them sometimes, but I’m trying to figure where to fit them into my normal schedule.
